NFL FOTY TROPHY
PRESENTED BY CAPTAIN MORGAN
On tHIS Project I was tasked with designing the NFL Fan IF THE YEAR trophy for the 23-34 season through our CLient Partner
Captain Morgan.
After being Briefed, The first round was for pitching, We needed to pitch OUR Ideas to Captain Morgan and the NFL to get approval on the ideas before we could start anything. My first Drafts leaned more towards abstract. I started with a trophy idea that represented A NFL FAN but not so directly, something symbolic, such as maybe glorified solo cup representing those who go the hardest at NFL tailgaiting.
FOR MY SECOND Option of these drafts I Wanted to Humanize the trophy and give the Winner something personal. Looking at Designer Victor Solomon for Inspiration, I focused on the use of bronze, gold and crystal for my ideas. These Ideas were meant to Surprise the winner with life like statue versions of themselves, elegantly designed. Here I wanted to depict Fans doing poses while either holding up memorabilia or a Foam Finger made of crystal.
AFTER THE FIRST ROUND, THE BRIEF WAS REIMAGINED AND THE CAPABILITIES OF WHAT WE COULD DO WITH THE TIMING WERE MADE MORE CLEAR. THE TROPHY WOULD BE 3d Printed, we would not be able to use crystal or bronze and we would need to replicate those looks with RESIN. ALSO, This year WE wouldn't have time to design a trophy in the likeliness of the winner and it needed to be more general. In all, We were asked to design a more General, simplified Trophy as we have to move our focus away from the actual participants and towards the TWO BRANDS.
SO THIS ROUND WE DECIDED TO USE THE NFL FOTY Language ALONG WITH THE CAPTAIN MORGAN Logo and MASCOT AND COMBINE THEM TO MAKE
A GOLDEN 3D Printed TROPHY FOR THE FOTY WINNER TO FOREVER CHERISH. I decided to give 2 options, one with a black trunk BASE and one with a white trunk BASE that we could use to resemble a crystal look and feel.
IN THIS THIRD ROUND we received feedback and were tasked with making the Trophy a bit more branded, and they loved the Treasure Chest Base and wanted us to lean more into that idea but make it more authentic to Captain Morgan.
With that feedback I decided to take the ACTUAL FOTY logo and work that into the design, while also inverting the NFL logos on the trunk to make them stand out more to the touch Overall Giving the NFL more of a presence. As for the Treasure trunk I decided to give it a more authentic look with a brown wooden look and feel along with gold accents. Also I added some Football related objects into the trunk to represent the treasure.
